ARTIST STATEMENT

Each work is a reflection of my personal connection to the places I’ve been and my journey through the world — a meditation on the memories, emotions, and quiet details that define these special moments I’ve been fortunate enough to experience.

The Impressionists have been a major influence on my work, capturing not only the visual essence of a place but also the emotional experience it inspires. Driven by my appreciation of the beauty in these environments and my approach to creating mementos, the process of painting provides me with a sense of gratitude for the places and experiences that have shaped who I am.

I’ve thoughtfully chosen to work on small scale, which gives a sense of intimacy and direct engagement. This approach offers a personal, almost portable quality — like sending a heartfelt postcard to a loved one from a special time. My paintings are inspired by photographs I've taken during my travels, where I've had the privilege of experiencing the beauty and light of these places first hand. I primarily work in oils, using the ‘alla prima’ technique, which allows for an immediate and spontaneous response. This aligns with the Impressionists' focus on the nature of light, capturing its ever-changing qualities in the moment.

Through this process, I hope to inspire reflection and appreciation for the beauty that surrounds us, capturing moments that encourage us to pause and truly notice the world.
